Privacy policy

1. Who this covers

This policy applies to the CivPass mobile app (“CivPass”, “the app”) for Android and iOS, and to this website. CivPass is an independent study app and is not affiliated with the Civil Service Commission of the Philippines.

2. Information we collect

None. CivPass does not ask for your name, email address, phone number, or date of birth. It does not require an account. It does not request access to your contacts, photos, camera, microphone, location, or files.

The app contains no advertising SDKs and no analytics or crash-reporting SDK is active in the released build, so no usage data or device identifiers are sent to us or to any third-party analytics provider.

3. What the app stores on your device

To work as a reviewer, CivPass keeps the following in its own private storage area on your phone:

• The bundled question bank, installed with the app.
• Which questions you have answered, and whether each was right or wrong.
• Which questions you have bookmarked.
• Your mock exam sessions and scores.
• Your chosen exam date and daily reminder time, if you set them.
• A flag recording whether Pro has been unlocked.

This data never leaves your device. It is not backed up to any service we operate. Note that if you have enabled your platform’s own device backup (Google One backup or iCloud Backup), your operating system may include app data in that backup under Google’s or Apple’s privacy terms, not ours.

4. Purchases

CivPass Pro is a one-time in-app purchase. The transaction is handled entirely by the App Store or Google Play. We never see or receive your card number, billing address, or any other payment detail — the app only receives a confirmation that a purchase exists, which it records on your device as the Pro flag. Purchase records are held by Apple or Google under their own privacy policies.

5. Network connections the app makes

Studying is fully offline. The app connects out only for these purposes:

• Completing or restoring a purchase — a request to the App Store or Google Play billing service.
• Checking for a required update (Android only) — the app uses Google Play’s in-app update service to learn whether a newer version is available.

Neither of these sends us your study data, and neither is used to profile you.

6. Children

CivPass is intended for adults preparing for the Philippine Civil Service Examination. It is not directed at children under 13, and because the app collects no personal information, it does not knowingly collect anything from a child.

7. Your rights and choices

Because we hold no personal data about you, there is no account to close and no server-side record for us to export or erase. You are in full control of the data on your device:

• To erase everything: uninstall the app. All stored progress is removed with it.
• To stop reminders: clear the reminder time in the app, or revoke notification permission in your system settings.

Under the Philippine Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10173), and comparable laws elsewhere, you have rights over your personal data. If you believe CivPass holds personal data about you, write to us at the address below and we will respond.

8. Third parties

We do not sell, rent, or share personal information, because we do not collect it. The only third parties involved in CivPass are Apple and Google, in their role as app distributors and payment processors.

9. Changes to this policy

If a future version of CivPass adds anything that collects data — for example crash reporting or analytics — this policy will be updated before that version ships, and the “last updated” date above will change. Material changes will also be noted in the app’s store release notes.
